IMU Cares Travel Grant for Relief Missions

IMU has established the IMU Cares Travel Grant for Relief Missions to sponsor IMU students, staff and alumni members to participate in relief mission, either in Malaysia or overseas. This grant is limited to transportation only.

A) Application Procedures

The applicant must submit the relevant supporting documents as follows:-

• Travel Grant for Relief Missions application form
• Letter of approval from the organizing body (relief organization)*1
• Approval from the appropriate authorities of which the applicant is working

e.g IMU student – Dean of the Faculty

IMU staff – Head of Department/Section and Human Resource office

Alumni – Employer

• All application form and documents must be submitted to the International Office, Student Affairs Department, Bukit Jalil, IMU.  Only a maximum of two persons will be approved per mission.

*1 The organizing body must be an organization that has been registered with the Registrar of Society of Malaysia or is a recognized international body.  Not withstanding the above, the organization should not be a body that is link to any particular religious organization/institution

B) Amount of Grant

The amount of the grant would be 50% of the travel fare incurred or a maximum of RM1,000, whichever is less. Claims that are allowable include air fare, or road transport, ie public transport or own transport, mileage claims (RM0.55 per km and toll receipt)

C)    Decision

Application forms must be submitted to the International Office, Student Affairs Department Bukit Jalil, IMU two months before the travel date.  All decision made are final. Appeals will not be entertained.

D)    Completion of Mission and Exit Report

All applicants must submit the following documents to the International Office, Student Affairs Department Bukit Jalil, IMU upon return from their relief missions.  The documents must reach our office 1 month from the return date.

·        Letter from organization confirming completion of mission.

·        A report about the mission with accompanying photographs.  A minimum of 3 photographs

·        The applicant maybe required to give a presentation at the IMU
